LPTV
Moving images on Travel TV will help move your brand
Lonely Planet has established its own television production company, Lonely Planet Television (LPTV) to produce quality programming for both broadcast and licensing. We produce customised content on demand for major brands and national tourism boards, producing co-branded programs that we distribute online and on TV - and we can do the same for your company.
Television Programmes
Our flagship television series is the award-winning urban travel show Lonely Planet Six Degrees, which explores the world’s most happening cities by connecting with the people who live in them. Now in its third season, Lonely Planet Six Degrees has screened in over 100 countries. Other top-rating shows include the successful back-to-roots roadtrip series Going Bush and the on-going Sport Traveller destination series.
Our clients include Discovery Networks International, National Geographic, the Travel Channel, Eurosport, Current TV in the US & UK, Global TV in Canada; Voyage in France; Channel 5 in Singapore; and SBS in Australia. Lonely Planet Television has co-production partners in the UK and Singapore to support European and Asian initiatives. Stock footage from all our productions is available for licensing from our digital stock library Lonely Planet Images.
Customised Content
Lonely Planet Television works with tourism bodies, airlines and corporate sponsors to produce co-branded programming for TV, in-flight and online delivery. It has a wide range of production services at its fingertips, a library of stock footage, multimedia expertise, access to Lonely Planet text, maps and images, and a global pool of filmmakers, writers, researchers and translators who can handle all aspects of production from concept through to delivery.
Our customised content includes the four-part TV series Bluelist Australia, made for Tourism Australia, and designed to encourage Australians to explore their own backyard. Broadcast in prime time on Australian free-to-air network SBS, it was the second highest rating programming in its timeslot. We also work closely with regional tourism bodies such as Tourism NT and Tourism Western Australia to produce short-form customised online videos featuring Lonely Planet authors sharing their in-depth knowledge of these destinations.
LonelyPlanet.TV
Lonely Planet Television has established online video channel LonelyPlanet.TV, featuring original LPTV-produced travel programming and clips uploaded by travellers. Curated by Lonely Planet, the video sharing site enables travellers to upload footage from files, phones and webcams and share it with fellow independent travellers. LPTV syndicates the best of LonelyPlanet.TV to a range of online partners, and offers like-minded partners the opportunity to produce custom content, campaigns and competitions that reflect their individual marketing requirements and connect with Lonely Planet's online community.
