Journeys to Authentic Australia

Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory feature in a booklet produced by Lonely Planet to entice young travellers to explore these regions of Australia.

The booklet, entitled ‘Journeys to Authentic Australia: travel beyond your expectations’ was launched yesterday at the Australian Tourism Exchange in Perth. ‘Journeys to Authentic Australia’ which showcases the three states, treats them as a single destination and single journey, making it easier for travellers to plan a truly unique holiday down-under.

A specially commissioned team of Lonely Planet authors researched and wrote the booklet which includes itineraries and maps to help travellers chart their journey, as well as information on working holiday opportunities, cultural events, and food and wine experiences.

‘As travel destinations, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory boast great beaches, distinctive landscapes, authentic outback experiences, world-class wines and much, much more’, said writer Peter Cruttenden.

Cruttenden adds, ‘It is this desire for the authentic “Australian experience” that makes Australia a year-round popular destination with young travellers ’.

South Australia, Western Australia and Northern Territory tourism will distribute one hundred thousand copies in the key inbound source markets of the UK, Germany, Italy and France. Travellers will also be able to collect a copy in hostels and transit centres around Australia.

‘Coverage of the three states in one booklet gives independent travellers inspiration and ideas to make their visit to Australia exciting, surprising and memorable. Descriptions of Australia beyond the state capitals will entice travellers to explore the country on and off the bitumen’, said Lonely Planet Business Development Associate, Blake Hutchison.

Lonely Planet Business Development team has developed a range of products for the travel industry working with clients such as Tourism New Zealand, ATC, Aboriginal Tourism Australia and Tourism Victoria.
